Американський погляд на Субсахарську Африку 1960-х рр. (на прикладі дисертаційних досліджень про Конго та Нігерію)

Анотація. У статті здійснено спробу проаналізувати науковий доробок американських дослідників щодо тематики Субсахарської Африки 1960-х рр. на прикладі двох країн регіону – Демократичної Республіки Конго та Нігерії. В обох державах, які у 1960-му році пройшли деколонізацію та стали на незалежний шлях розвитку, впродовж першого десятиліття їх існування відбувались різноманітні буремні події, що вплинули на весь субсахарський регіон та значною мірою мали відображення на процесах в інших частинах континенту. Тому ці країни особливо є яскравим прикладом, на основі якого і було проведено дане дослідження.

На підставі детального розгляду дисертацій, що увійшли до переліку, розроблених та захищених на території Сполучених Штатів Америки різними поколіннями дослідників впродовж півстоліття, встановлено основні пріоритетні теми та напрямки, які цікавили американську наукову спільноту. Хоча дана робота не має на меті здійснити вичерпний та повний аналіз, однак на базі наявного матеріалу систематизовано статистичні дані у хронологічному та тематичному вимірах. Зокрема, виокремлено події та явища з історії Конго та Нігерії, які особливо привертали увагу американських науковців. Левова частина досліджень присвячувалася подіям Конголезької кризи 1960-1965 рр., а також громадянської війни за незалежність Біафри, що розгорнулись на теренах Нігерії. Водночас, встановлено, що більшість дослідників цікавила не стільки доля самих держав Субсахарської Африки, як роль і місце Сполучених Штатів в регіоні, їх зовнішня політика та просування американських національних інтересів.
